Combination Course
The combination program starts with Driver's Education Course and then transitions to Behind-the-Wheel Instruction.
Driver's Education Course
Taught in 15 two-hour sessions, Pro Active Driving School ensures that students learn all necessary driving rules and regulations before getting behind the wheel.
If you are 14½ or older, you can enroll in the Driver's Education Course! The Driver's Education Course will introduce you to the rules of the road, traffic safety, vehicle maintenance, vehicle control and tips on buying/owning a vehicle.
Anytime after turning 15½, you can take a short exam at the DMV to receive your temporary state driving permit (or temps).
After you are enrolled in a Driver's Education course, have received your temporary state driving permit and paid applicable fees, you will be ready for behind-the-wheel training!
Absences
Wisconsin state law requires that a maximum of two absences are allowed during the classroom session, and absences will only be permitted for emergency situations with written verification from the student's parent or guardian. Therefore, make sure your schedule is free from practices, vacations, away sports games, etc., before you enroll.
If you are absent more than two times it may result in removal from the program. Re-enrollment will be required to complete the program and no credit will be given for previously paid fees.
Behind-the-Wheel Instruction
In order to start behind-the-wheel training, you must have your temporary state driver's permit or temps.
Once you have obtained your temps, you will begin one of six two-hour, behind-the-wheel sessions required by Wisconsin state law. During one hour of each session, you will be in the driver's seat, learning first-hand the ins and outs of the road. The other hour of each session will be spent observing another student driver.
Regulations
The state of Wisconsin requires a minimum of 19 days between the first and last behind-the-wheel lesson. Students under 18 years of age must also possess their temporary permit for no less than six months prior to taking the state licensing road test.
Taking your Driver's Test
When taking your state licensing road test, Pro Active Driving School has you covered!
Prior to taking your scheduled test, we will pick you up and give you the opportunity to review the skills and techniques required to successfully pass your driver's test. Then, Pro Active Driving School will provide you with the same school-owned vehicle you've practiced with to take your test. (Additional fees apply.)
